Tragic Skiing Accident Leaves 23-Year-Old Olivia Corbiere in Critical Condition

Olivia Corbiere, a 23-year-old kitchen designer from Aston, near Rotherham, South Yorks., is currently fighting for her life after a severe skiing accident in Bansko, Bulgaria. The young woman, who had just celebrated her birthday, experienced a devastating fall of approximately 15 feet from a ski path into a ravine, leading to critical injuries, told “Daily Mail“.

Following the accident, which occurred on a family holiday, Olivia’s friends managed to pull her from the water, after which she was urgently transported to a hospital in Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital. The gravity of her condition necessitated a four-hour emergency surgery, during which surgeons were compelled to remove part of her skull to alleviate bleeding in her brain. The surgical team reported never having seen such a severe head injury before, report of “Daily Record“.

In addition to the traumatic brain injury, Olivia sustained multiple fractures, including three vertebrae, her pelvis, an eye socket, and her nose. Her mother, Linzi Corbiere, 46, rushed to Sofia to be by her daughter’s side, despite hospital restrictions limiting visitations. Linzi shared the distressing news that the next few hours post-surgery are critical for Olivia’s recovery, with plans to wake her from the induced coma the following day.

The accident has sent shockwaves through the Corbiere family, with Olivia’s sister Phoebe, 19, and other friends who accompanied her on the trip, witnessing the horrific incident. Linzi, a train dispatcher, and her husband Seb, a train manager, have both traveled to Bulgaria to support their daughter, with Olivia’s younger brother Morgan expected to join them.

The Corbiere family is now in a tense wait, hoping for a positive outcome as the medical team prepares to bring Olivia out of the coma. In the meantime, a fundraising appeal has been initiated to assist with the financial burdens of travel, accommodation, and medical expenses during this challenging time. The campaign has already seen generous contributions, amassing over £13,000 in donations, but the family emphasizes that further support is crucial for Olivia’s prolonged recovery and rehabilitation.
