Sara’s Mum Reacts As Father, Stepmother And Uncle Arrested At Gatwick Airport, Says She Is Happy

Nearly five weeks after the tragic death of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, her father, Urfan Sharif, 41, his partner Beinash Batool, 29, and Sara’s uncle Faisal Malik were arrested at Gatwick Airport following an international manhunt in Pakistani.

According to The Mirror on Thursday, September 14, 2023, Sara’s mother, Olga Sharif, expressed her feelings about the arrests, stating, “I am very happy that the police have made arrests. It is a huge relief and something I didn’t think would happen this quickly. I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders but there is still a long way to go before I feel closure.”

She emphasized the importance of collaboration in the ongoing investigation, saying, “What is important now is that the police can investigate with no information being kept back or put to the side. This needs everyone to work together. I have had to wait a long time for this and I didn’t know if they would ever be able to investigate what happened to my daughter.” She also revealed how the death of her daughter left her devastated.

The Surrey Police had been actively searching for the trio following Sara’s death in Woking last month. A spokesperson for Surrey Police provided an update on the investigation, saying, “Our investigation into the death of 10-year-old Sara Sharif was launched following the discovery of her body at her home address in Hammond Road, Woking, on August 10.”

“On Wednesday evening, around 7.45 pm, three people were arrested in connection with this investigation at Gatwick Airport. Two men, aged 41 years and 28 years, and a woman, aged 29 years, were arrested on suspicion of murder after disembarking a flight from Dubai. They are currently in custody and will be interviewed in due course.”

The spokesperson also mentioned that Sara’s mother had been informed of the latest update and was receiving support from specialist officers. The Surrey Police affirmed their commitment to conducting a thorough investigation into Sara’s death, acknowledging the complexities and challenges involved in her death.

The swift action taken by the police in arresting the individuals involved demonstrates their dedication to uncovering the truth behind Sara Sharif’s tragic passing. As the investigation progresses, Sara’s mother and the community affected by her loss continue to seek answers and justice for this heartbreaking case.
