BFC and NewGen Alumni Collaborate for Exclusive Bag Collection

The British Fashion Council (BFC) is celebrating 30 years of its NewGen talent program with a special bag collection, designed in conjunction with seven NewGen alumni. This collection is produced in collaboration with Bags of Ethics.

Esteemed designers Ahluwalia, Christopher Kane, Erdem, Giles Deacon, Halpern, Mary Katrantzou, and Roksanda have each contributed a unique signature print for this limited edition collection, transforming their designs into premium tote bags available in two sizes.

From Christopher Kane’s ‘Psyche Floral’ motif of his Spring/Summer 2022 lineup to Erdem’s breezy ‘Rosalind’ print, and Halpern’s zebra stripe design reinterpreted using glitter ink, each bag tells a distinctive design story. Other standouts include Ahluwalia’s dynamic wave patterns, Mary Katrantzou’s ‘Objects of Art’ print showcasing a striking rooster from her Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, and Roksanda’s Autumn/Winter 2021 print symbolizing female strength. Giles Deacon’s unique print adds a historic touch, drawing on London references, and spotlighting a hand-sketched pineapple and a dramatic scroll.

Ensuring sustainable production, the collection was developed mindfully with Bags of Ethics. The bags were crafted in India by a predominantly female team, using eco-friendly inks on responsibly sourced cotton.

Each bag purchase will contribute to the BFC Foundation charity, reinforcing its mission to back the upcoming wave of UK design talents.

Fashion aficionados can choose between two sizes: a large tote priced at 70 pounds and a smaller version at 40 pounds. These collector’s items will be up for grabs until February 2024 at notable outlets including Bags of Ethics, Fenwick, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Machine-A, Selfridges, and The Design Museum.
