Bradley Walsh Stunned by Contestant’s Startling Confession on ITV’s The Chase

On Monday, January 13, Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants onto The Chase, where they faced off against the infamous Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace. Among the contestants was Evie, an optical assistant from Brighouse, who quickly caught the attention of both Bradley and viewers at home.

During the show, as the contestants introduced themselves, Bradley asked Evie what she did for fun. Her response, “I grow carnivorous plants,” seemed harmless enough, but her pronunciation of the word “carnivorous” sounded strikingly similar to “cannabis.” The mix-up had Bradley gasping in surprise. “Say it again, you’ve got what?” he asked, clearly taken aback, reported by the Express.

Evie laughed off the awkward moment and tried to clarify, repeating that she grows “cannabis plants”—but again, her words seemed to resemble “cannabis,” not “carnivorous.” She went on to explain that the plants she grows are milk jug-shaped and catch flies, but by then, viewers at home were already in stitches.

Many fans took to social media, commenting on the hilarious misunderstanding. “Sorry, I believe I heard… cannabis plants?!” said one viewer. Another added, “Did she say cannabis plants?” A third chimed in with, “Please don’t tell me I’m the only one who heard ‘cannabis plants’ at first?” and a fourth posted, “Brad: ‘What do you do to relax?’ Contestant: ‘Cannabis Brad.’”

Despite the confusion, Evie remained a strong contender in the quiz as she and the others battled it out for the cash prize against Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer.’ Shaun made sure to bring his A-game, but it was the mix-up over “carnivorous” plants that truly stole the spotlight in this entertaining episode of The Chase.
