Tragic Accident in Liverpool Claims Two Lives Due to Flooded Roadway

A man and woman tragically lost their lives after their black Mercedes Class 180 plunged into a flooded stretch of Queens Drive in Liverpool around 9.20 pm last night. This incident occurred between North Mossley Hill Road and Dovedale Road.

Emergency response teams from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services, in collaboration with Merseyside Police officers, quickly retrieved the duo from the submerged vehicle. Unfortunately, they were pronounced deceased upon their arrival at the hospital.

The bereaved families of the victims have been notified, and official documents regarding the incident have been submitted to the coroner’s office.

With intentions of conducting a thorough probe into the accident, the coroner has requested further investigations. Recent meteorological reports from the Met Office indicate that the area experienced intense rainfall, exceeding 32mm per hour on Saturday, which presumably led to the road’s flooding.

Expressing deep sympathy, Detective Chief Inspector Mike Dalton stated, “The entire team is deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident. Our heartfelt condolences extend to the families of the victims. We acknowledge the commendable efforts of the good Samaritans, our team, and the rescue services that tried their best on-site.”

He further noted, “We are currently in the initial stages of our in-depth investigation on Queens Drive. As a result, certain parts of the road remain closed, and we advise drivers to seek alternative routes.”

Dalton encouraged witnesses or anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage from the time of the incident to come forward. Additionally, local residents with doorbells or CCTV footage from the evening are also urged to share their recordings.
