Prince Philip ‘Thought Extremely Fondly’ of Harry Despite the Rift

Prince Harry shared a special bond with his grandfather, Prince Philip, despite his rift with the royal family and though they had less communication in the last year, Philip was still very fond of his grandson.

A source revealed to US Weekly that Prince Philip and Prince Harry were quite close, even though the family’s rift was prominently displayed over the past year.
“[Philip] and Harry had a very close relationship,” a source exclusively reveals in the newest issue of US Weekly. “Whilst they may not have been able to communicate during the final year or so of his life, Philip thought extremely fondly of his grandson and vice versa.”

The Duke of Sussex, however, felt guilty that he wasn’t present and in person to say goodbye to his grandfather, who died peacefully at home in Windsor Castle on April 9.

Putting all differences aside, Prince Harry’s meaningful tribute to Prince Philip proves that they were much more than meets the eye.
“To me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ‘til the end,” part of the statement read.

The Duke of Edinburgh passed away at age 99 on Friday, April 9. Following his grandfather’s death, Harry, 36, flew to England to attend the funeral, which will take place on Saturday, April 17.
