Mother Tragically Shot Four Times by Her Own Son as Judge Breaks Down in Tears During Shocking Murder Trial

A tragic shooting unfolded in Chicago when a 17-year-old allegedly shot his mother, Tatanisha Jackson, four times in the head, killing her in front of his father and younger brother. The incident took place on a Saturday afternoon as Jackson was entering her home, according to police reports.

The accused, Davion Pryer, had reportedly called his mother just 10 minutes earlier, complaining about people drinking on their back porch. As Jackson unlocked the front door of their South Shore neighborhood home, Pryer allegedly opened fire at point-blank range, leaving her fatally wounded. The horrific act took place in front of Pryer’s father and his seven-year-old brother, who had just returned from school pickup.

Authorities apprehended Pryer later that evening around 10 p.m. in the 7000 block of South Cottage Grove. He now faces trial as an adult on charges of first-degree murder, according to the Mirror US. The courtroom was left in shock as Judge David Kelly presided over the case, visibly moved by the tragedy. “This is very sad and tragic to this court… The unprovoked shooting and killing of your mother in front of your father and brother,” he said, struggling to contain his emotions.

According to reports, Jackson had returned to her home after her son’s phone call, unlocking the door when Pryer allegedly swung it open and shot her multiple times. As the gunfire erupted, Pryer’s father quickly grabbed the younger son and called 911.

Ronald Jackson, a local resident, recounted hearing the gunshots. “Everything was peaceful, and then out of nowhere, shots let off. We heard like eight shots, and then six more,” he said, expressing disbelief over the senseless violence.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Jackson with multiple gunshot wounds to her head and torso. A firearm and several shell casings were recovered. Jackson was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries. She leaves behind her husband, two sons, and a stepdaughter.

Pryer, who was already under house arrest for unrelated juvenile charges of aggravated battery and vehicular hijacking, remains in custody. He is expected to appear in court again on September 28, with an additional court date set for October 3. This tragic incident has left the community reeling, and the family struggling to cope with the unimaginable loss.
