Mother Faces Trial as Son’s Blood Found Throughout Home and on Beloved Teddy Bear

In a harrowing case at Newcastle Crown Court, the jury learned of the grim evidence found in the home of Christina Robinson, 30, who is on trial for the murder of her three-year-old son, Dwelaniyah. Accused of inflicting fatal harm by violently shaking him and causing severe burns through deliberate scalding, Robinson’s actions are said to have led to the tragic death of her son in their Ushaw Moor residence in Durham, back in November 2022.

Robinson, who has pleaded not guilty to murder and child cruelty, reportedly defended her right to discipline her son based on biblical teachings. The court heard that forensic analysis revealed the young boy’s blood on various items and locations within their home, including his teddy bear, indicating the widespread nature of his injuries.

Evidence of blood was also discovered on a door frame, a living room rug, a stairway, a bathroom panel, and near his cot, suggesting that the child had been moving around the house while wounded. The extent of blood distribution suggested injuries beyond minor cuts or scrapes. Additionally, traces of the boy’s blood and skin were found on a bamboo cane, implying it was used to strike him.

The prosecution highlighted Robinson’s personal life, including an extramarital affair and a pregnancy from a sperm donor while her husband was stationed away with the RAF. As the trial progresses, the defense is expected to present its case, with jury deliberations anticipated to commence following the judge’s summary of the evidence.
