Chynna Phillips and Billy Baldwin Embrace Unique Living Arrangement to Strengthen Marriage
0Actress Chynna Phillips, 56, recently opened up about her and husband Billy Baldwin’s unconventional new approach to marriage, revealing in a video on her faith-based YouTube channel, California Preachin’, that the couple has decided to live separately part-time. The arrangement, Chynna explained, has been refreshing for their relationship. “Billy and I are sort of in this new kind of arrangement that is actually really working for me,” she shared. “I don’t know if it’s working for Billster, but I’m very happy with what we’re doing”, according to PEOPLE.
Together since 1995, the couple has faced ups and downs in recent years. Earlier in 2023, Chynna described the two as “bickering like crazy,” and admitted to “walking on eggshells” around Billy. Now, the couple lives in separate homes, one in Santa Barbara and another in Beverly Hills, while still meeting regularly for “date nights,” family dinners, and therapy. Reflecting on their unique setup, Chynna joked, “Where in the Bible does it say that I have to live under the same roof 24/7 with my husband?”
Despite their arrangement, Chynna emphasized her commitment to their marriage, explaining that they still cherish their time together. “We enjoy each other’s company,” she said, adding, “That’s what is so hard to articulate to people: that we’re madly in love, we really enjoy being around one another, we cherish our marriage, we don’t ever want to separate.” Both agree that living apart allows them to avoid the strain of constantly “being subjected to each other’s energy”, told the Daily Mail.
Billy joined Chynna on a FaceTime call during the video, playfully commenting on their “allergy” to one another. “The reality is you have the allergy,” he quipped, noting that while he may sometimes “bring out the worst” in Chynna, they remain deeply committed. Chynna responded, acknowledging that she sometimes triggers him too and that the goal is to find balance.
In the comments section, Chynna addressed fans’ concerns, reassuring them that their separate living situation is meant to strengthen, not undermine, their relationship. “I’m battling for our marriage, not against it,” she wrote, adding that they’re like “peanut butter & jelly.”
Their faith also plays a significant role. After Chynna’s 2022 conversion to Christianity, the couple has navigated some challenges, with Billy admitting their spiritual differences sometimes cause friction. However, he reaffirmed his support, saying, “I still absolutely love you, absolutely adore you, and completely support you.”
This unique arrangement, Chynna believes, allows them to embrace their love while giving each other the space they need, saying, “We think we’re onto something.”
