This Morning Nominated for National Television Awards, but Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard Miss Out on Best Presenter Nod

ITV’s This Morning has once again been nominated for a National Television Award (NTA), but presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard were notably absent from the list of nominees for Best Presenter. The duo, who took over hosting duties in March following the departure of long-time stars Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield, have struggled to maintain the show’s previous momentum in this prestigious category.

Cat and Ben stepped into their roles earlier this year, replacing Holly and Phil, who left the show in 2023. Despite their efforts, the shake-up in hosts has not resonated as strongly with viewers, resulting in a dip in ratings over the summer and a missed opportunity for recognition at the NTAs.

The National Television Awards, often dubbed “television’s biggest night of the year,” celebrate the best in British TV, with winners determined by public vote. Although Cat and Ben have been at the helm of This Morning for five months, it seems they have yet to win over fans in the same way as their predecessors, told Daily Express.

The only This Morning host to receive a Best Presenter nomination this year is Alison Hammond, who has been co-hosting alongside Dermot O’Leary during the summer. Alison has quickly become a fan favorite, thanks to her quick wit and engaging interactions with guests. Having been a regular on ITV since 2002, her popularity has soared, especially as ITV bosses consider who will permanently replace Holly and Phil.

While Alison has made a strong impression, she faces tough competition in the Best Presenter category, going up against established stars like Claudia Winkleman, Bradley Walsh, and Stacey Solomon. Additionally, she will compete with Ant and Dec, who have won the Best Presenter award for an incredible 22 consecutive years.

Although Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard were not recognized in the Best Presenter category, they still have a chance to win an award as This Morning is nominated for Best Daytime Programme. However, they’ll face stiff competition from other popular shows, including Loose Women, The Chase, Deal or No Deal, and The Repair Shop.

As the awards night approaches, all eyes will be on whether This Morning can secure another win and whether Alison Hammond can break Ant and Dec’s longstanding streak in the Best Presenter category.
