Queen Camilla Faces ‘Exhausting’ Challenges During King Charles’ First Australian Tour as Monarch

As King Charles embarks on his historic first tour to Australia as reigning monarch, Queen Camilla may encounter significant challenges due to the demanding nature of the trip. The nine-day tour, expected to be “extremely exhausting” for the 76-year-old royal, will see the couple travel extensively across Australia and Samoa before returning to the UK on October 26. according to the Sun.

According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, Queen Camilla’s stamina may be tested during the tour. In an interview with Fabulous, Seward remarked, “Queen Camilla is 76. She gets very tired because she’s not born to this royal life. I know she’s been in it a long time, but she’s not born to it, and I think people sometimes forget that Camilla’s never actually had a job.”

Seward also pointed out that Queen Camilla is not particularly fond of travelling or hot weather, which could add to the physical strain of the tour. “She’s not a great traveller, and she’s not good in the heat. Like many women of her age, her feet swell up, and she feels uncomfortable. So, it’s not the most pleasurable thing for her to whisk across to Australia, although it might be really exciting for somebody younger.”

Despite these challenges, experts believe that Queen Camilla will rise to the occasion and ensure the success of the tour. The royal couple is set to arrive in Sydney on October 18, followed by a visit to Canberra three days later, where they will attend a banquet with senior politicians. The tour will also include a stop in Samoa on October 23, before the couple heads back to the UK.

For King Charles, this will mark his 17th visit to Australia, but it holds special significance as his first official trip to a Commonwealth nation as monarch. It is also the first time he has returned to Australia since 2018, when he opened the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

While the tour may present challenges for Queen Camilla, the royal couple’s journey is an important diplomatic engagement for the newly crowned King, and all eyes will be on how the Queen navigates the physically demanding itinerary.
