Mila Kunis Looks Unrecognizable With Blonde Hair in Her New Movie Trailer

It’s a long way from Black Swan and Jackie Burkhart.

In the new trailer for Four Good Days, Mila Kunis sheds more than her comedic chops — she’s left her signature dark hair behind, too.

According to E! News, Kunis’s new role has her playing Molly, a character that’s battling drug addiction in the film. Four days refers to the time that she has before she can get an opiate antagonist shot, which keeps her body from being able to get high. The film also stars Glenn Close, who plays Molly’s mother.

The trailer shows Kunis’s grown-out blonde hair and dark roots. She’s going through withdrawal symptoms, struggling with her family and kids, and dealing with the consequences of her own addiction.

It’s not quite the glossy ballet-inspired looks of Black Swan, but it just goes to show that Kunis has the range. Just last year, while she was promoting the movie at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, Kunis debuted lighter hair, but it was still very much brown and not the brassy blonde of her Four Good Days character.

E! adds that the film is based on a Washington Post article by Eli Saslow, “‘How’s Amanda?’ A story of truth, lies and an American addiction.”

Four Good Days could mark a turn in Kunis’s career. While she’s best known for comic roles like Ted, this film and her next, Luckiest Girl Alive, see her taking on darker, grittier characters. Based on Jessica Knoll’s novel, the movie chronicles a woman continuing to process a tragedy that happened while she was in high school. It’s been in production limbo since 2015, but Kunis is starring and producing the movie.

“This has been six years of relentless rewriting, rejections, studio changes, and torturous stretches of stagnation,” Knoll wrote on Instagram. “I am SO proud of the fact that Mila Kunis read the 63rd draft of my script and was like yeah, I get this girl, and so grateful for her shrewd third act notes that helped me take the 64th draft into another stratosphere.”
