Charles Tyrwhitt Opens New Store in Grand Central

Charles Tyrwhitt, the British menswear brand renowned for its premium shirts, has expanded its footprint in the U.S. by opening a new store in New York City’s iconic Grand Central Terminal. This move marks another step in the brand’s growing presence across America, targeting commuters and busy professionals at one of the busiest transit hubs in the world.

The new store, located at 89 East 42nd Street, at the Vanderbilt Hall entrance, spans 2,280 square feet and embodies Charles Tyrwhitt’s British heritage. The design pays homage to its roots with distinct touches, including two classic London telephone booths and playful neon signage that cheekily reads, “Get Shirty.” A striking wall of neckties is also featured, inspired by the brand’s flagship store on London’s famous Regent Street.

Known for offering a wide range of shirts in various fits, collars, and colors, the new store also showcases the brand’s extensive menswear collection. Customers will find formal and casual suits, knitwear, smart casual attire, as well as footwear and accessories—everything a modern man needs to build a versatile and stylish wardrobe.

Sam Stanley, vice president of North America at Charles Tyrwhitt, emphasized the importance of the new store in enhancing the brand’s reach in the U.S. market. “The Grand Central store is a great addition to our U.S. retail portfolio, offering an iconic and convenient location for our customers to shop for their modern working wardrobe, whether they live in New York or are just passing through,” Stanley said in a statement.

He added, “Our stylists at each store location are trained to help every man find his tailored fit and stock up on timeless, seasonal items to help him feel and look his best.”

Charles Tyrwhitt has quickly become a go-to for high-quality shirts, with impressive sales statistics to match. The brand claims to sell one white button-down shirt every 50 seconds and sold 7 million shirts in 2023 alone. Its ambitious goal is to reach 7.5 million shirt sales by the end of 2024.

The UK and U.S. remain the brand’s largest markets, with 34 stores across the UK and 12 in the U.S., including locations in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Chicago, and Houston. The addition of the Grand Central Terminal store further solidifies Charles Tyrwhitt’s commitment to providing convenient and stylish shopping experiences for its customers.

As the brand continues to expand its reach, it also operates in more than 50 countries worldwide, bringing its tailored menswear and timeless designs to men across the globe. For Charles Tyrwhitt, the Grand Central Terminal location is not just another store—it’s a key part of the brand’s ongoing mission to help men look their best, one expertly tailored shirt at a time.
