Scott Mitchell Shares Heartbreaking four-words Memories of Barbara Windsor’s Alzheimer’s Battle on GMB

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Scott Mitchell opened up about the late Barbara Windsor’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, sharing a devastating moment from her illness. Scott Mitchell revealed that Barbara Windsor once asked him a heartbreaking question as she first experienced symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. The Goodnight Sweetheart actor was a guest of Ranvir Singh and Richard Madeley on Thursday, July 25, 2024, to remember the late soap star’s final moments.

Barbara Windsor, famous for her role as pub landlady Peggy Mitchell on BBC One’s EastEnders, battled dementia until her death in December 2020 at the age of 83. During his live TV appearance, Scott recounted how Barbara’s health deteriorated, leading her to lose her memory and confuse him with another important man in her life.

“I think for anyone, you do see those early signs, you just pick up on them,” Scott began. “A couple of times, she froze at work and said that was so unusual for her, on set, at EastEnders.” Scott dated these events back to 2009 before Barbara left the long-running program the following year. “Unfortunately, as we know, it’s a progressive disease,” he added, reported The Mirror.

As she lost her precious memories, Barbara asked Scott a heart-wrenching question: “She did still know me; it came and went. At one point, she said to me, ‘Are you my daddy?'” Barbara and Scott were married for two decades until her passing. Since her death, Scott has moved on with her former co-star Tanya Franks, who played Rainie Cross in the London-based drama.

Earlier in the year, Scott and Tanya revealed on the breakfast show that they met during training for his fundraising marathons, becoming fast friends before their connection evolved into a romantic relationship. They have since kept their relationship mostly private, making occasional public appearances at events.

Amanda described the experience as “brutal, relentless, and unforgiving,” and clarified that she was referring to the “rape threats towards not only myself but my daughter and the threats of death to my son.” When asked if these threats came from Strictly fans, she confirmed, also alleging similar behavior from Giovanni’s fans. She emphasized the importance of speaking out against bullying and toxic environments, despite the backlash she has faced.
