UK Households Warned About Chicken, Beef, and Pork Safety Concerns

Meat products have been urgently recalled from restaurants, cafes, and hotels as they “may be unsafe.” The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has ordered food businesses to withdraw various meat and meat products over safety concerns.

Restaurants and hotels in London and South East England have been urged to stop selling meats supplied by a cutting plant in Kent. The FSA warned that these products might have incorrect use-by dates and could be subject to traceability breaches.

The FSA stated, “Meat and meat products supplied by a cutting plant in Swanley, Kent, should be removed from the market because of food safety concerns. The FSA has alerted Environmental Health and Trading Standards Services to take action to remove meat and meat products manufactured by Block and Cleaver from the market.”

“These products, which have been supplied to food businesses in London and the South East of England, may not have been produced in accordance with GB food law requirements and therefore may be unsafe. They should not be eaten.”

The FSA is asking food businesses such as restaurants, cafes, and hotels to withdraw from the sale of any meat or meat products supplied by Block and Cleaver because they are unsafe to eat. Products should be disposed of safely, reported Birmingham.

The following products have been recalled: beef meat and meat products with use-by dates and expiry dates of “all dates up to and including 20 June 2024,” as well as pork meat and meat products with a use-by date of “all dates up to and including 20 June 2024,” according to the FSA.

Chicken meat and meat products are also impacted. The FSA notice states that the use-by dates affected in chicken items are “all dates up to and including 20 June 2024.”

This urgent recall serves as a critical reminder of the importance of food safety standards and the need for strict compliance with regulations to protect public health.
