Speculation About Kate Middleton’s Health Is Unhealthy Amid Tough Time, Says Commentator

Since Kate Middleton underwent abdominal surgery in January, speculation about her health has intensified. As the Princess of Wales continues her cancer treatment, questions have arisen about whether continued guesswork regarding her return is “unhealthy amid her tough time.” A commentator shares their thoughts on the matter.

Since marrying Prince William in 2011, Kate Middleton has largely avoided controversy, adhering to royal expectations despite events that placed her in the public eye, such as reported clashes with sister-in-law Meghan Markle and other high-profile incidents.

Graham Smith, CEO of the anti-monarchy group Republic, addressed Kate’s health on the podcast “The Royal Record.” Smith believes Kate should be given the necessary time to recover without the pressure of public speculation reaching a fever pitch.

“I think that she is on the public payroll. There’s an expectation that she does something in return for the lavish lifestyle. So knowing that she has cancer and, therefore, that is why she is not around, is fair enough,” Smith stated.

“But I just think that whole need to get into the private lives of these people is unhealthy. I think a lot of the speculation was just bordering on slightly bizarre. There’s also been a whole load of slightly more fawning conversation and speculation about her, putting [her] on this pedestal,” he continued.

Smith concluded, “She is just a regular person going through a tough time. She should be left to get on with it with her family. And it doesn’t need any more than that.”

On March 22, 2024, Kate Middleton addressed the public in an Instagram video to quell rumors about her health. She disclosed her battle with cancer and thanked the public for their support during her recovery from abdominal surgery.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful,” she explained. “However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

The Princess of Wales also shared how she and Prince William needed time to process her diagnosis and inform their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, appropriately.

“We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now, I must focus on making a full recovery,” she concluded.

Kate Middleton has shown resilience similar to that of the late Queen Elizabeth, maintaining a composed and dignified public image even as she faces cancer treatment. Despite following royal traditions, Kate is distinguished from her predecessors by her commoner background and university education.

Royal author Christopher Anderson told Fox News, “People don’t give Kate enough credit for being a genuine original… Kate, however, is a descendant of coal miners. Her mother grew up in public housing and worked as a flight attendant. Not only will she be the first truly commoner queen, but she will be the first queen with a university degree.”

Anderson believes Queen Elizabeth recognized Kate’s unique qualities, admiring her quiet, regal dignity and resilience. As Kate continues her recovery, she is expected to resume her public duties later this year.
