Dual Affairs Two Prison Staff Members Sentenced for Relationships with Inmate

In a scandalous turn of events at HMP Buckley Hall in Rochdale, two female prison workers have been sentenced for maintaining simultaneous illicit relationships with the same inmate. Aleesha Bates, 29, a prison officer, and Jodie Wilkes, 27, an operational support grade staff member, found themselves entangled in romantic liaisons with a prisoner convicted of drug trafficking offenses, leading to legal repercussions for their misconduct in public office.

Bates, who initiated the forbidden relationship in December 2019, engaged in exchanging explicit messages and nude photographs with the inmate, a fact that came to light during a cell search by police. This discovery unveiled the dual affairs, as Wilkes was revealed to have started her relationship with the same inmate in April 2020, overlapping with Bates for approximately two months, by “The Mirror“.

At Bolton Crown Court, Bates received a two-year and eight-month prison sentence, while Wilkes was handed a 12-month suspended sentence for two years, highlighting the severe breach of trust and professional misconduct involved. The case unraveled further complexities, including threats made by the prisoner towards Bates over borrowed money, revealing a tangled web of manipulation and intimidation within the prison walls.

The court’s decision underscores the gravity of such breaches of trust within the correctional system, serving as a stark reminder of the professional and ethical standards expected of those in positions of authority over inmates.
