Kate Middleton’s Illness Highlights Deep Divide Between Prince Harry and Prince William, Says Commentator

The revelation of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis has inadvertently shone a light on the profound rift between Prince William and Prince Harry, with a commentator pointing out the manner in which the Sussexes found out about the illness as a telling indicator of the strained relations.

The lack of direct communication to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle about the Princess of Wales’ health condition underscores the depth of the divide within the royal family.

Talk TV’s royal editor, Sarah Hewson, remarked on the significant implication of Harry and Meghan learning about Kate’s diagnosis through public channels rather than from the family itself. She suggested that the decision not to inform the Duke and Duchess of Sussex beforehand stemmed from a lack of trust, highlighting the seriousness of the rift.

“This revelation about how Harry and Meghan found out speaks volumes about the current state of their relationship with William and Kate,” Hewson noted, adding that the situation reflects the complexities of family dynamics amidst public scrutiny.

The bond Harry once shared with Kate, whom he affectionately regarded as the sister he never had, has been marred by the controversies and public disclosures in recent years, including those made in the “Harry & Meghan” Netflix docuseries and Harry’s memoir, “Spare.” These revelations have not only strained his relationship with his brother but have also brought into question the possibility of reconciliation.

Royal historian Richard Fitzwilliams echoed the sentiment that serious illnesses often bring families together and could pave the way for reconciliation. However, he remained cautious about the likelihood of this happening anytime soon, especially given the current level of trust and communication breakdown between the brothers.

The manner in which Harry and Meghan were informed about Kate’s illness, paralleling how they learned of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, further emphasizes the disconnect and the long-standing issues within the royal family.

Despite the public statement of support from the Sussexes following Kate’s announcement, the underlying tensions appear to persist, with little indication of immediate resolution.

As the royal family navigates these challenging times, the focus for William and Kate remains on their family’s well-being and minimizing stress. The Waleses’ decision to spend Easter privately, away from the public eye and potential family discord, reflects their desire to maintain a semblance of normalcy and unity in the face of adversity.
