Ungar-Sargon Exposes the Harsh Reality of Harry & Meghan’s American Dream

Batya Ungar-Sargon, Deputy Opinion Editor at Newsweek, has openly criticized Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, describing them as superficial celebrities during a discussion on GBN America. Her commentary sheds light on their reception among the American populace, which appears to be less than favorable.

Ungar-Sargon expressed a stark view of the couple, characterizing them as embodying a certain detachment and arrogance commonly associated with affluent, self-important celebrities. She argued that their fame is not grounded in personal achievements but rather in their privileged position, from which they purportedly lecture others on moral standards.

Despite their efforts to establish a more positive public image through a significant rebranding effort, recent polls indicate a decline in Meghan’s approval ratings. This shift in public sentiment comes in the wake of the couple’s initiatives to reposition themselves within the public eye, including the launch of their revamped website, sussex.com.

In contrast to Meghan’s waning popularity, Prince Harry’s standing seems to be holding steady, with some surveys suggesting his favorability is on par with that of Prince William and Kate. However, Meghan’s approval rating has experienced a noticeable decline, from a net approval of plus 15 to a mere plus one, as per a recent survey by Redfield & Wilton involving 1,500 adults.

Despite the criticism, it’s important to note that Harry and Meghan have been actively involved in philanthropy through their Archewell Foundation. The foundation reported $1.2 million in charitable donations last year, supporting various causes including a mine-clearance charity, a nod to Princess Diana’s renowned humanitarian efforts.
