Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Jamaica ‘invite’ was kept ‘hidden’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made headlines last week when they made a surprise appearance at the premiere of the Bob Marley biopic in Kingston, Jamaica. The couple’s visit generated considerable buzz and, at the same time, raised eyebrows, as it occurred amidst health concerns within the royal family.

Some critics deemed their timing “insensitive.” However, their visit might carry a more significant message, potentially signifying a subtle snub to the royal establishment, which could explain why it was kept under wraps.

Royal expert Russell Myers, a correspondent for The Express, weighed in on the situation, highlighting the difficult position that Harry and Meghan find themselves in. He suggested that they are faced with criticism regardless of their actions: “Harry and Meghan would be ‘damned if they do, damned if they don’t.'”

Myers also hinted that the couple’s visit to Jamaica may have been more than just a spontaneous decision. He indicated that it might have been an invitation extended to them, rather than a spur-of-the-moment trip. According to Myers, “No one expected them to pitch up in Kingston, Jamaica, a lovely holiday spot for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

But they were invited by the film premiere’s producers; the production team believed that their presence would be a fantastic addition to the premiere.” Furthermore, Myers acknowledged that the trip seemed reminiscent of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s controversial Caribbean tour, which garnered considerable attention. He stated, “If you remember, he [Prime Minister Holness] was the central figure in the major scandal when the Prince and Princess of Wales visited Jamaica in 2022, at a time when they were still the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.”

During that visit, PM Holness reportedly cautioned against becoming too comfortable, suggesting that it might be the last time some members of the Royal Family visit Jamaica while it maintains its relationship with the monarchy before becoming a republic. This historical context adds an intriguing layer to Harry and Meghan’s recent visit.
