André Maeder Takes Helm as CEO of Selfridges Group Post KaDeWe Group Tenure
0Following its acquisition in 2022, Selfridges Group welcomes André Maeder as its new CEO. Maeder, who previously served as the chief executive and managing director of KaDeWe Group, will assume his new responsibilities from May 1. Notably, both Selfridges Group and KaDeWe Group fall under the purview of Central Group, their parent company.
The acquisition of Selfridges Group in August 2022 was a joint effort by Thailand’s Central Group and Austria’s Signa Group, with the deal estimated at a whopping 4 billion pounds. This strategic purchase encompassed Selfridges’ retail outlets in the UK, Ireland, and the Netherlands, including its indirect parent, SHEL Holdings Europe Limited.
In his upcoming London-based role, Maeder will oversee the European group’s retail banners: Selfridges in the UK, De Bijenkorf in the Netherlands, and Brown Thomas Arnotts in Ireland.
Maeder’s tenure with KaDeWe Group since 2014 is highlighted by his transformative strategies that revitalized its trio of luxury department stores: KaDeWe in Berlin, Alsterhaus in Hamburg, and Oberpollinger in Munich.
Come November 1, Michael Peterseim, the current managing director and CFO of KaDeWe Group, is set to lead as its CEO and chairperson. In addition, KaDeWe Group is fortifying its executive team with Janina Schüßler being elevated to director of marketing communications, and Julia Lehmann taking on the role of director of merchandise management, also overseeing logistics. Both will step into their new roles starting November 1.
