Vogue Williams Opens Up About Her Painfully Embarrassing First Marriage to Brian McFadden
0Vogue Williams, known for her idyllic family life with her husband Spencer Matthews and their three young children, rarely speaks about her first marriage to Westlife’s Brian McFadden. However, in a candid moment on her podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me, the Irish model opened up about the breakdown of her marriage and how she now views it with a new perspective.
The couple’s marriage, which lasted from 2012 to 2015, was highly publicized and ended in a divorce finalized in 2017. Reflecting on the painful end of their relationship, Vogue called it an “epic failure” and “painfully embarrassing.” She shared, “I got married and divorced really young and I found that painfully embarrassing, because it was just like such an epic failure and it was so public.” However, Vogue’s perspective has changed over time. “Now I look back and I’m like, do you know what, no it’s not! It was a learning curve, but again, no one died, who cares?” she added. “It’s nice to be able to look back and have that feeling about even that situation, and I just can’t imagine anything would embarrass me so much now.”
Vogue met Brian in 2011 at a Dublin nightclub, and they quickly became engaged in early 2012. The couple married in a romantic ceremony in Tuscany later that same year. Brian, who had previously been married to Kerry Katona, shared his thoughts on marriage at the time, telling HELLO! he felt ready for a life commitment, stating, “I was 18 or 19 when I got married the first time. I was in Westlife. I had no idea what I was doing. It wasn’t till I was 30 that I turned into an adult.”
So, what led to their split? Vogue and Brian have both mentioned that their move to Australia contributed to their relationship’s breakdown. Brian’s job as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent took him across the world, while Vogue admitted that she was “running away” from her problems in Ireland, including the death of her father in 2010. She reflected, saying, “Do what I did, follow a relationship to Australia, it will work out really well! Move to Australia with him, it’s a nice place, it’s warm, it’s sunny!”
Despite the end of their marriage, both have moved on. Vogue now shares a family with Spencer Matthews, while Brian also has found happiness. Vogue admitted, “I see now it might have been better if I hadn’t run, and if Brian had lived in Ireland.” Though their relationship didn’t last, both seem content with where life has taken them since then.
