Violent Ex-Boyfriend Sentenced to 40 Months for Year-Long Campaign of Terror and Abuse

A woman endured a year of terror from her violent boyfriend, Jason Paul, 35, who relentlessly pursued her despite her attempts to end their relationship. Paul’s actions included threats to share intimate photos, stalking, and chilling phone calls where he threatened to harm her and her son.

In January 2023, Paul’s aggression escalated when, after a night out in Wallasey, he forcibly confined her in her home, dragging her across the floor and barricading her in a room until she agreed to reconcile. A similar incident occurred in June 2023, where he trapped and choked her, threatening to end her life, told Liverpool Echo.

Paul admitted to multiple charges, including threats to disclose a private sexual photograph, assault, stalking, and sending threatening communications. At Liverpool Crown Court, his ex-girlfriend detailed the traumatic impact of his abuse, expressing her ongoing fear, anxiety, and nightmares. Her mental health deteriorated, leading to PTSD and alopecia, and she had to leave her teaching job due to safety concerns.

She described heightened vigilance, installing CCTV at home, changing locks, and carrying a personal alarm for safety. Paul, from Hunter’s Way, Slough, was sentenced to 40 months in prison and received a restraining order to prevent future contact with the woman.
