Heartfelt tributes paid to five-months Pregnant Mom-to-Be: “She just went for a nap and never Woke Up”

Heartfelt tributes have poured in for Leah Roberts, a 21-year-old expectant mother from Cwmbran, who tragically passed away after suddenly feeling unwell. Leah, who was five months pregnant, did not wake up after lying down to rest on August 1, 2024, according to reports from WalesOnline. Just three days before her untimely death, Leah discovered she was expecting a baby girl, whom she had planned to name Leena-Rose. The cause of Leah’s death is yet to be confirmed.

With her family’s permission, Leah’s friend Becky Davies paid tribute to her. She recounted that on the day of her death, Leah was at her grandparents’ house, where she was living. Feeling unwell, Leah decided to lie down for a while. Hours later, when she could not be awakened, her family raised the alarm.

“She had gone out in the day and went back to her grandparents’ house as she wasn’t herself. She went for a lie down for 30 minutes. Someone had come to call for Leah to see if she was going out somewhere, and her grandfather went to her bedroom to try and wake her up and couldn’t,” Ms. Davies explained.

“He went and told her grandmother he couldn’t wake her, so she went into the room and realized something was wrong, so took her off the bed and started performing CPR. That’s all it was, she just went for a nap and never woke up.”

Leah’s mother, Martine Vaughan, arrived at the property alongside the ambulance service, air ambulance, and police. Despite their efforts for over an hour, Leah and her baby could not be saved.

Paying tribute to Leah, Ms. Davies, a close friend of Leah’s mother, described her as “the most selfless person you could ever meet in your life. By no means did she have an easy life, but all she wanted was to love and be loved in return. Family was a massive thing for her; she would always say she was going to be a mum.”

“She used to take my children out, her brothers out. She would walk into a room, and no matter if she had had a bad day or not, she would always ask if you were okay. She was just loving, chatty, and just funny, she was a massive goofball with a massive heart.”

Ms. Davies emphasized the close bond Leah shared with her mother, Martine, saying they were “inseparable” and “the best of friends.” Leah also cherished spending time with her father, James, enjoying music and movie nights together, always filled with laughter.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Leah’s family with funeral costs. Ms. Davies shared, “I’m just trying to raise enough money so they can have a proper send-off. It’s hard enough losing your daughter, but losing your grandchild at the same time, it’s got to be one of the most gut-wrenching things I can even imagine.”

Tributes have flooded social media for Leah and her unborn baby. One message on the fundraising page read: “Love you so much and will miss you forever. The world is so, so cruel. You deserved so much more than it had to offer you and your beautiful baby girl… rest peacefully in paradise, my girl.”

Leah’s family is now awaiting the autopsy results to determine the cause of her death and are planning funerals for both their daughter and granddaughter.
