Tragic Christmas for Family Mourning Woman and Teen Son Lost in Car Crash

The family of Clair, a 42-year-old former theatre worker, and her 15-year-old son Sam, who tragically lost their lives in a car crash in Greater Manchester, are facing an “immensely difficult” Christmas without them. The devastating accident, which involved two vehicles, occurred on Ripponden Road, Oldham, on December 23.

In the crash, a 13-year-old child also suffered serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. The police reported that the driver of the second vehicle, a 35-year-old male, was arrested at the scene and is still in custody.

In a heartfelt statement released on Sunday, Clair and Sam’s family shared the profound impact of their loss. They described Clair as a smart, loving parent, daughter, and sister who was always ready to help others. Before the pandemic, she worked at the Bolton Theatre, aiding those with mental health issues, and was passionate about her weekly pottery classes, showcasing her creativity.

The family fondly remembered Sam, who had aspirations of studying music at college. He was passionate about singing and playing the drums and often spent time immersed in music or playing on his computer. His family emphasized how much he meant to them, acknowledging that his absence would leave an irreplaceable void.

In their statement, the family highlighted the close bond Sam had with his family members, underscoring the deep loss felt by his passing.

The police have issued an appeal for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage – dashcam, mobile phone, CCTV, or doorbell recordings – from the area of the crash to come forward. PC Thomas Johnson expressed continued condolences to the family, noting that they are receiving support from officers during this challenging time.
