Tony Blackburn’s Advice for Jungle Campmates “Don’t Do It” Shocks The One Show Hosts

BBC radio icon Tony Blackburn, the first-ever king of the jungle from the inaugural series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2002, made a memorable appearance on The One Show alongside Loose Women panellist Judi Love, according to the Express.

During the chat with hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, Tony looked back at his time in the jungle, sharing anecdotes from his legendary experience on the ITV show. However, it was his response to a simple question that left the presenters momentarily speechless.

When Alex Jones asked, “Tony, you won it, you were the first king of the jungle, what advice would you give to the campmates?” Tony’s candid reply caught everyone off guard. In a deadpan tone, he responded, “Don’t do it”, reported by Wales Online.

The unexpected quip had Alex and Roman in fits of laughter, with Alex quickly adding, “Get out of there.” Tony, however, clarified, “I’m making a joke,” and went on to elaborate on his challenging experience in the jungle.

Looking back, Tony reflected on the harsh conditions of the show, revealing that as a vegetarian, he was spared the gruesome eating challenges that have since become infamous. “I couldn’t do it now—it’s horrible, the stuff they have to eat,” he said, visibly cringing. Despite the challenges, he stressed the importance of being yourself in the jungle. “You’ve just got to be yourself on it because that’s all you can do.”

Tony’s appearance on The One Show comes as I’m A Celebrity 2024 kicks off with a star-studded lineup that includes fan favourites like Maura Higgins, McFly’s Danny Jones, and Strictly’s Oti Mabuse. This year’s campmates are fiercely competing for the coveted jungle crown.

In a dramatic twist this year, contestants are competing for a “golden ticket” that will grant them immunity from the next two eliminations. This shake-up has sparked mixed reactions from fans, with some expressing their displeasure on social media. One viewer wrote, “Taking part in the cyclone is a privilege bestowed by the viewers. You’ve actually ruined a great series by doing this,” while another criticized the potential for skewing public voting.

Despite the controversy, the excitement around the show is palpable, with some fans loving the new twist. One enthusiastic viewer wrote, “Soooo good! Love it.”
