This Morning Producer Storms Off Set After Guests Leave ‘Disgusting Mess’

Thursday’s episode of This Morning took a rather unexpected turn—and left the crew in stitches—after two adorable guests created a mess live on set. Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley were in high spirits, marking both the first day of Spring and the International Day of Happiness with a feel-good outdoor broadcast. But things got a little too real when a pair of Shetland ponies joined the fun.

Spirit the teddy bear and Missy the unicorn weren’t just there for cuteness overload—they’re therapy animals, regularly visiting care homes, schools, and hospitals to lift people’s moods. Alongside them were guests Alice and nine-year-old Gracey, with Alice sharing how Gracey’s heart absolutely melts whenever she sees Spirit. “Horses are non-judgmental and bring joy to thousands,” Alice explained. “Their cuteness really lights up a room.”

Unfortunately, Spirit and Missy didn’t just light up the room—they left quite a surprise behind, too. When the show returned from a break, Ben jokingly pointed out, “Our team need to clear up after the ponies,” prompting Cat to cheekily chime in with, “Poop and pee,” as reported by The Mirror.

Ben then called out to producer Abbie, asking if she’d be handling the cleanup. The camera quickly cut to her shaking her head with a firm “no,” before she turned and dramatically walked off-set. Cat couldn’t help but burst into laughter, shouting, “She’s off now!” as the crew shared the hilarious moment.

The on-air chaos came as This Morning prepares for a new chapter behind the scenes. Vivek Sharma has just been announced as the new boss of the show, officially stepping in as editor this March. He takes over from Martin Frizell, who decided to step down in November after a decade at the helm to care for his wife, former GMTV presenter Fiona Phillips, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s last year.

Vivek didn’t hide his excitement about taking the reins, saying: “Having grown up watching the show, it’s an incredible privilege and honor to take on the role of editor of This Morning.” He added: “Over the last 37 years, the show has become a national institution and has been responsible for some of the most memorable moments on television.” And with moments like a live pony poop walk-off, it looks like that tradition isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
