This Morning Is Broken – The One Major Change That Could Save It!

For over 36 years, This Morning has been a staple of daytime television, beloved by viewers for its mix of light-hearted fun and candid interviews. But recent developments, including the fallout from “queue-gate” and tension between hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, have exposed cracks in the show’s once-solid foundation.

The departure of Schofield, followed by Holly’s sudden exit after a chilling FBI investigation into a plot to kill her, has left the show struggling to regain the public’s trust. What was once a beloved daily companion has now become a shadow of its former self.

Despite a long history of consistent viewership, This Morning is now pulling in just 500,000 daily viewers—an all-time low for a show that once had peak ratings just shy of 1 million. Many believe that unless drastic changes are made, the show’s relevance is in serious jeopardy, told Metro.

Yesterday, This Morning editor Martin Frizell confirmed his departure after a decade at the helm, citing his wife Fiona Phillips’ Alzheimer’s diagnosis as the reason for stepping down. Under Frizell’s leadership, This Morning had its heyday, dominating daytime television. But since his departure, the magic seems to have waned.

The charm of This Morning was once its chaotic energy—whether it was Holly and Phil’s spontaneous giggles or Gino D’Acampo’s hilarious antics. The hosts’ natural chemistry, particularly between Holly and Phil, made the show feel like a comfortable daily escape. It was fun, unpredictable, and full of heart.

But the absence of that chemistry has created a void. Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, as talented as they are, lack the spark needed to bring the show to life. Their chemistry feels forced, and without the dynamic of two close friends at the helm, This Morning is adrift.

The show’s reliance on the friendship between its hosts has never been more apparent, and it’s clear that without Holly and Phil’s unique bond, This Morning is struggling with an identity crisis. The fun, unpredictability, and genuine laughter that once defined the show are gone, and viewers are left with a show that’s neither funny nor credible.

However, there is hope for the future. The right partnerships could bring back the energy that This Morning has lost. Rylan Clark and Emma Willis, who’ve proven their chemistry as guest hosts, could be the perfect duo to restore the fun and sharpness the show desperately needs. Alternatively, pairing Ben with Kate Garraway or Cat with her husband Patrick Kielty could reignite the spark the show has lost.

In short, if This Morning is to have a future, it will require a return to its roots—genuine friendships, real laughter, and a sense of joy. The good news is, this can be fixed, but the right changes must be made. Without them, This Morning risks fading into irrelevance.
