The third season of the popular BBC reality show The Traitors wrapped up last week, culminating in a dramatic finale where Faithful contestants Leanne Quigley and Jake Brown emerged victorious, sharing the impressive prize pot of £94,000. However, the conclusion of the season did not mark the end of surprises, as cast members continued to astonish fans with unexpected revelations about their personal lives.
Throughout the season, viewers were captivated not only by the strategic gameplay but also by the intriguing backgrounds of the participants. Charlotte Hawkins, a notable contestant, maintained a fake Welsh accent throughout the competition, adding an extra layer of deception to her gameplay. Meanwhile, Leanne Quigley, one of the eventual winners, deceived the audience by falsely claiming to be a nail technician, a lie that added to the suspense of her true intentions within the game, reported by the Daily Record.
The most startling revelation came from Minah Shannon, who left Scottish fans in shock by disclosing that she is not actually from Liverpool, as she had previously claimed. In a revealing interview on the BBC’s radio program Newsbeat, the 29-year-old call center manager shared, “I say I’m from Liverpool because my friends say I’m an adopted Scouser but I’m not actually from Liverpool but I’m not anyone says I’m not Scouse.”
She further explained her diverse upbringing, stating, “I’ve gone to school in Uganda, I’ve gone to school in Glasgow, I’ve gone to school in Birmingham. Liverpool is the longest place I’ve ever lived in. I can’t believe you’re the first person I’ve told that.” Minah, who resides in Crosby with her husband, Lee, and their two-year-old daughter, Luna, elaborated on her background to the Liverpool Echo, revealing that she spent her early years in Uganda before moving to Glasgow for around five years until she was twelve.
“I met my husband in Liverpool, I had my little girl in Liverpool and I think the friendships I’ve made in Liverpool have made me who I am as a 30-year-old now. So I’ll always say I’m Scouse regardless of what anyone says,” she affirmed.
Minah’s revelation came shortly after her elimination from the show. She was banished from the Scots castle in the final days of the competition following a Round Table vote where both Faithful contestants and her fellow Traitor Charlotte decided to eliminate her. Charlotte’s true identity is ultimately exposed by Frankie’s ‘seer’ power, leading to her departure from the game as a Traitor.
The nail-biting finale saw Charlotte exit the game with four Faithful contestants remaining, a move that was unexpected by many. Amid lingering doubts, Frankie and Alexander were voted out by Leanne and Jake, who subsequently claimed the grand cash prize of £94,600.
As The Traitors Season 3 comes to a close, the combination of strategic gameplay and personal revelations has left a lasting impression on fans. Leanne Quigley and Jake Brown’s triumph marks a memorable end to a season filled with twists, turns, and heartfelt disclosures, setting the stage for an eagerly anticipated fourth season.
