Transgender Teenager Stabbed 14 Times by Snapchat Gang ‘For Lying’ in Brutal Attack

An 18-year-old woman, who believed she was meeting friends for a roller disco, was ambushed and brutally attacked in a car park in Harrow, northwest London, reported by The Times. The horrifying assault, planned over Snapchat, was triggered after her transgender identity was revealed to the group.

The attackers, Summer Betts-Ramsey, 20, Bradley Harris, 18, Camron Osei, 18, Shiloh Hindes, 18, and a 17-year-old boy, admitted to grievous bodily harm with intent. Betts-Ramsey also pleaded guilty to knife possession, and a 17-year-old girl admitted to robbing the victim’s handbag and possessing a class B drug.

The attack unfolded after Harris learned of the woman’s transgender identity during a gathering at his home in January last year. Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC explained that a mutual friend informed Harris, who initially confronted the woman. She denied the claim, fearing retaliation, but later admitted it after Harris threatened her with a knife. Harris then informed the group, sparking a hateful plot against her.

The attackers, communicating through a Snapchat group, lured the victim to the car park under the pretense of going roller-skating. On February 10, the woman arrived at the meeting spot, unaware of the ambush awaiting her. Dressed in dark clothing with masks and hoods, the group immediately attacked her.

Betts-Ramsey stabbed the victim at least 14 times while the others punched and kicked her for 45 seconds before fleeing the scene. Witnesses rushed to her aid, and paramedics found her with multiple stab wounds and a weak pulse before taking her to the hospital.

Adding to the cruelty, members of the group bragged about the assault on social media. Betts-Ramsey responded to criticism with a chilling message: “IT deserved it”, reported Sky News.

The victim shared the lasting impact of the attack in a powerful victim impact statement. “I have thick scars as a result of the attack. I find it difficult to trust people. I’m always in fear of leaving my house,” she said. She described suffering panic attacks and insomnia, adding that her injuries might end her modeling career.

“I never thought someone could have so much hatred towards me,” she said.

The case has sparked outrage and highlighted the ongoing dangers faced by transgender individuals. The attackers are awaiting sentencing.
