Susanna Reid Announces Return to Good Morning Britain After Long Break and Fans Are Furious
Susanna Reid has made a long-awaited announcement following her extended absence from Good Morning Britain. The 54-year-old broadcaster took to Instagram to share with fans that after a three-week break, she will be returning to the morning show this Monday. Susanna posted a picture of a lit candle with the caption: “Happy New Year! See you on Monday.”
Earlier in December, Susanna had informed her followers that she would be taking a festive break, thanking her fans for their support. During her time off, Kate Garraway, 57, stepped in to host the show alongside Richard Madeley, 68, reported by the Express. However, the pairing of Kate and Richard was not well-received by some viewers, who took to social media to voice their frustrations.
One viewer wrote on X: “Not coming up on GMB, Susanna Reid. Paid a salary of £1,100,000 to host this dross three mornings a week. But not for the next three weeks obviously.” Another viewer complained, “Susanna worked on Sunday’s show yesterday and now has to take 3 weeks off!” and one even questioned, “Susanna on her Christmas break already?”
Fans also expressed their displeasure with the duo of Kate and Richard hosting together. One person criticized, “GMB who the f*** makes the decision to pair up the 2 most hated presenters in TV?”
Before her break, Susanna had announced: “Ending on a positive note, our amazing 1 Million Minutes campaign – I just want to say thank you to everybody who has pledged their minutes to the campaign.” She signed off the show by saying, “Good Morning Britain back tomorrow from 6am. Have a happy Christmas from me, I’ll see you on Christmas Day.”
Susanna also fronted a special Christmas Day episode of Good Morning Britain alongside Kate and Ed Balls. During the episode, the three presenters shared an emotional group hug live on air. Ed Balls, moved by the moment, exclaimed, “Oh my Gosh, it’s a miracle.” Susanna quipped, “All your Christmases have come at once!” as the trio celebrated the sweet moment together.
Kate jokingly warned Ed, “Don’t think of it in 2025 though, it’s a one-off for Christmas,” as they laughed off the heartwarming scene. Despite the festive cheer, some fans were left missing Susanna’s presence on the show.
