Corrie’s Sue Cleaver Stunned as Richard Madeley Reveals Secret Family Connection Live on Air

Sue Cleaver, best known for her role in Coronation Street, made an appearance on This Morning to discuss her exit from the soap and her upcoming book, but it wasn’t her career that had everyone talking. While chatting with hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, Sue dropped a major bombshell about a “really weird” family connection to former This Morning icons Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan.

Sue, now 68, revealed that she had a unique connection to Richard and Judy, who famously hosted the ITV daytime show from 1988 to 2001. As part of her previous role, Sue once worked behind the scenes on This Morning, even delivering flowers to the couple during their hosting days, reported Lancs Live.

When Cat brought up Sue’s book, which mentions her past work, she asked, “You used to deliver flowers to Richard and Judy.” Sue smiled and replied, “I did, I dropped off flowers around to Richard and Judy’s house. I do remember everybody. I used to pop in from Liverpool Films if I was a bit bored and I would go and have a look and see what they were doing in their office and thinking ‘oh I’d like to do that, ‘”, according to the Mirror.

As if that wasn’t enough, Ben had a surprise in store for Sue. “There’s somebody who remembers you from back in the day who has sent us a message for you,” he said before Richard Madeley himself appeared on screen with a sweet video message. “Hi, Sue, just a very belated thank you for those flowers all those years ago,” Richard said, adding, “They’re still going strong actually after two and a half decades, not bad actually.”

Richard then showed off a bouquet of daffodils on his kitchen counter before continuing, “So we’re obviously sending you some flowers via return; better late than never. Obviously, a massive congratulations on those 25 years on Corrie. Extraordinary, what a star you are.”

But Sue wasn’t done yet. After receiving her own bouquet, she revealed an even stranger twist to the story. “Do you know the really weird thing? Judy and Richard live in my half-sister’s house. She sold them her house,” Sue said, sending the hosts into shock. “And they are godmothers to each other’s kids,” she added, leaving Cat and Ben stunned.

Sue wrapped up with a grin, saying, “That’s all in the book, but it’s a very strange world of mine.” The connection between Sue, Richard, and Judy certainly adds an unexpected twist to her story, and This Morning viewers are sure to be eager to learn more!
