Stephanie Beacham Reflects on Her Dislike for Strictly Come Dancing Experience
Coronation Street icon Stephanie Beacham recently opened up about her challenging experience on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2007. The 77-year-old actress, who was partnered with Vincent Simone during the fifth season of the popular BBC show, was the second celebrity to be eliminated. Despite her long and storied career, Beacham has made it clear that her time on the dance floor was far from enjoyable.
In a candid interview with the Daily Mail, the former Dynasty star reflected on her time on the show, expressing her strong dislike for the grueling schedule. “I loathed every minute of it. It wasn’t for me,” she admitted, highlighting the intense “dawn to dusk” demands of the competition.
Beacham, who is also set to appear in a new film titled Duchess, elaborated on her experience, saying, “I would say if you really want to lose 10 pounds and work from dawn to dusk, and you don’t mind all your hard work and sweat being filmed? Go for it, but it’s not something you’d do for the money. It’s a darn sight tougher than that.”
Despite her negative experience on Strictly, Beacham remains a fan of the show and has expressed admiration for Anton Du Beke. However, she has no intention of returning to reality TV, dismissing the idea of participating in Dancing on Ice with a laugh. She told OK! Magazine in 2022, as reported by the Mirror, that she found the notion of joining the ITV ice skating show amusing, admitting she “choked with the laughter of it.”
Beacham, who has been a familiar face on television since the 1960s, also caught up with Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley on Good Morning Britain earlier this year, where she discussed her upcoming film roles. However, what truly captivated the hosts was her seemingly ageless appearance. Susanna Reid even commented on Beacham’s “secret to eternal youth,” referencing her role in the film Forever Young.
When asked about her beauty secrets, Beacham credited a healthy diet and possibly favorable genetics. She revealed that her mother remained “glamorous until she was 85” and suggested that maintaining her “fabulous” looks was part of a “whole lifestyle,” noting that her mother was never seen “in slippers.” Beacham’s reflections offer a rare glimpse into the pressures of reality TV and the resilience needed to navigate such demanding experiences, all while maintaining her timeless grace and charm.
