Saturday Kitchen Viewers Divided Over Guest Chef’s Wardrobe and Lulu’s Appearance

Fans of Saturday Kitchen took to social media to express their opinions about the wardrobe choice of guest chef Kate Carter-Larg on the BBC show, told the Mirror. The owner of St Andrews’ The Cheesy Toast Shack appeared wearing a strapless top paired with denim jeans and a leather belt, which some viewers felt was “too revealing for a cooking segment.”

Several fans voiced their concerns on X (formerly Twitter), with one asking, “She changed into that top to cook?!” Another commented, “I can’t concentrate on the show for worrying about her top falling down. She’s pulling and tugging it as it keeps slipping.” A third viewer noted, “I know… inappropriate dress code.” Meanwhile, a fourth added, “Wardrobe issues can definitely take attention away from the show itself. Hopefully it gets sorted out quickly so everyone, including her, can feel more at ease.”

The controversy over Kate’s outfit isn’t the first time the BBC show has sparked viewer debate. Recently, fans criticized singer Lulu’s appearance on Saturday Kitchen, calling her the “most irritating guest ever.” Lulu, who joined hosts Matt Tebbutt, Georgina Hayden, Genevieve Taylor, and Jason Atherton, faced backlash from viewers who felt she constantly referenced her age and grandchildren to appear relatable.

Some fans expressed their frustrations on social media. One viewer wrote, “Jesus wept. Lulu is THE most insufferable annoying person to watch ever. @SaturdayKitchen.” Another added, “I thought Lulu on Saturday Kitchen was very loud and obnoxious and why did she feel the need to keep mentioning her age?” Another viewer remarked, “Lulu on Saturday Kitchen and being absolutely f*****g insufferable as usual.”

A third commenter sarcastically noted, “Saturday Kitchen Lulu is 75. Just in case she didn’t mention it. Scotland doesn’t like her, just like Sheena Easton. Fake as feck.” Another added, “I know Saturday Kitchen is on every week, but they can’t have run out of guests already that they have to have Lulu on?”

The criticism continued as one user tweeted, “Lulu is responsible for the most cringey Saturday morning I’ve had for quite some time. SHE’S 75 YOU KNOW, AND IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC #SaturdayKitchen.” Another viewer echoed the sentiment, “Of all the guests in all the world… why just why? #SaturdayKitchen.” A final comment read, “Do you know how old I am? Come on, guess how old I am? I bet you can’t guess how old I am #SaturdayKitchen.”

While some viewers seemed unimpressed with the show’s guest choices and on-screen moments, Saturday Kitchen remains a talking point, proving that its live format and diverse lineup continue to spark debate and engagement among its audience.
