Princess Eugenie gets emotional to see Sarah Ferguson’s tearful message

On the 26th anniversary of her mother’s tragic passing, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, eliciting an emotional response from her daughter, Princess Eugenie. The post commemorated Susan Barrantes, who died in a car accident at the age of 61, a year younger than Ferguson is today.

Ferguson’s Instagram featured several beautiful photographs of Susan, including an iconic one on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Ferguson’s wedding to Prince Andrew in 1986. Other images highlighted Susan’s glamorous side, with one black-and-white portrait and another capturing her in a stunning red dress, reminiscent of a classic Hollywood starlet.

Accompanying the photos, the Duchess wrote, “My much-loved mother Susie died 26 years ago today. She was far too young to be taken from us and I often reflect on the fact that at just 61, she was younger than I am now when she died in a cruel accident.”

She continued, “I think constantly of her zest for life and her shining spirit. Like all of us, she made mistakes but she taught me to value each and every day and to always seek to treat people with kindness. I miss her greatly.”

This moving message resonated deeply, particularly with Ferguson’s younger daughter, Princess Eugenie, who re-shared the tribute on her Instagram Stories, adding, “Miss beautiful Granny Susie.” The shared grief highlighted the enduring impact Susan had on her family, echoing through generations.

Susan Barrantes’s untimely death occurred in a car accident while she was driving in the countryside with her nephew, Raphael, who survived the incident with minor injuries.

Ferguson’s post not only paid homage to her mother’s vibrant life and lessons in kindness but also underscored the deep familial bonds that continue to thrive in their memories and shared moments of remembrance. This tribute from a daughter to her mother touched not only her own family but also her followers, who felt the weight of her loss and the beauty of her recollection.
