Emotional Throwback: Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes Witness This Morning Guest Break Down in Tears

Fans of This Morning were treated to a nostalgic moment in the latest episode when a throwback clip featuring Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes aired. The clip, dating back over a decade, showed the former presenters interviewing a woman struggling with a severe phobia.

The clip, which resurfaced during the Friday, August 30 episode, featured Sharnie Christie, a woman with a debilitating fear of fancy dress costumes. Sharnie first appeared on the ITV show in 2011, hoping to confront and overcome her intense fear. The segment was introduced by current presenters Sian Welby and Craig Doyle, who revisited the moment that left a lasting impression on viewers, told the Mirror.

In the throwback footage, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, who were then regular hosts of the show, welcomed Sharnie alongside TV therapists Nik and Eva Speakman. Ruth introduced the segment with a hopeful tone, saying, “We’re going to hopefully sort this today, ok, so let’s pull back the curtain.”

As the gold curtain was drawn back, Sharnie was confronted with two costumes—a snowman and a donkey. The sight of the costumes, however, triggered an immediate and overwhelming reaction. Sharnie broke down into tears, visibly shaking and turning away in distress. Realizing the severity of her phobia, Eamonn quickly instructed the producers to close the curtains, shielding Sharnie from further distress.

Since its original airing, the video of Sharnie’s reaction has taken on a life of its own, resurfacing on social media and going viral once again. The clip continues to capture the attention of viewers, highlighting the emotional impact of phobias and the challenges individuals face when confronting their deepest fears. This revisited moment serves as a reminder of the unpredictable and sometimes emotional nature of live television, as well as the enduring legacy of Ruth and Eamonn’s time on This Morning.
