Richard Madeley Faces Backlash for Rudely Ignoring Good Morning Britain Co-Star On-Air

Richard Madeley started his week on Good Morning Britain with an awkward moment that left meteorologist Laura Tobin visibly frustrated. The 67-year-old presenter joined co-host Susanna Reid on Monday’s episode, but his response to Laura’s weather forecast sparked an icy exchange.
After Laura completed her report, which detailed cold weather in Washington, DC, and its impact on the UK later in the week, Richard asked, “Is that freezing weather in Washington headed this way?” “Yes,” Laura replied, adding, “It’ll bring us stormy weather by the end of the week”, reported Metro.
Seemingly surprised, Richard said, “Really?” prompting an exasperated Laura to respond, “I literally just said that, Richard. That’s literally what I just said.” Undeterred, Richard continued, miming snow as he asked, “Maybe some snow by the weekend?”
Laura quickly clarified, “Not for us, no,” while Susanna teased Richard for his animated gestures, lightening the tension. Laura quipped, “My next weather forecast will just be in mime,” as Susanna wrapped up the segment with, “Laura, thank you very much indeed. We’ll be paying attention next time, definitely.”
This isn’t Richard’s first awkward weather moment on the show. Back in November, he stepped outside mid-broadcast to confirm whether it was snowing in London. Returning to the studio, he dramatically announced, “It is absolutely tipping down with snow outside; it just started about five minutes ago!” Susanna jokingly reminded him to bundle up next time, to which Richard replied, “This is live television, Susanna. Every minute counts. I suffer for the news.”
Meanwhile, Richard and his wife, Judy Finnigan, seem to be venturing into a new project. The iconic TV duo, married in 1986, recently filed a trademark application with the Intellectual Property Office. The trademark, submitted in December 2024, suggests the pair may launch a range of products, including underwear, fragrances, and cosmetics.
The couple, renowned for their TV collaborations, could now be expanding their brand in unexpected ways. For Richard, though, his unpredictable and lively on-screen moments remain a hallmark of his presenting style, keeping audiences entertained—awkward exchanges and all.
