The spokesperson stated: “At around 4.30pm today (Monday 3 February 2025), we were called to a reports that a business premises was on fire on Oldham Street in north Manchester. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.” This statement highlights that while the immediate danger appears to have been contained, police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire, seeking to determine its origin and whether any criminal activity is involved.

In a parallel update, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) detailed the fire-fighting efforts. They said: “Shortly before 4.10pm today (Monday 3 February), four fire engines from Manchester Central, Phillips Park and Gorton fire stations were called to attend a commercial building fire on Oldham Road, Manchester. Crews arrived quickly and used two hose reels, four breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera and a gas detector to extinguish the fire. Firefighters remain in attendance and are working alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe.” These details underscore the well-coordinated response among the emergency services, as they utilized advanced equipment and expertise to manage the incident efficiently.
