Who Will Be the Queen’s Special Guest at ‘Trooping the Colour’ Parade?

One significant change reportedly included as the plans for the Queen’s official birthday parade on 12 June are now being finalized.

According to the details, Queen Elizabeth will be accompanied by her cousin, the Duke of Kent, who will take Prince Philip’s place as her ‘plus one’ at her birthday parade, also known as ‘Trooping the Colour’.

The Royal Family is continuing to support the bereaved monarch and the Duke of Kent will step in for this year’s ‘Trooping the Colour’ on June 12 to accompany her. As per reports, Prince Edward, 85, already carried out the role back in 2013 while Prince Philip was recovering from surgery.

Sources within the royal palace have said that the Queen is now looking to up personal engagements following the death of Philip and with the Covid restrictions now easing. She is believed to have a “genuine enthusiasm” for more engagements.

“There is a strong desire to return to normal duties and for the country to return to normal too,” said the Daily Mail’s Palace source. This year’s ‘Trooping the Colour’ will have more military personnel than 2020, when its size was restricted due to the pandemic.

Right after that the Queen is expected to travel to Cornwall for the G7 summit meeting of leading industrial nations where she will greet United States (US) President Joe Biden along with representatives also from Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan.

Still Biden is expected to have a full state visit at some point and he will be the 14th US leader to meet her.
