Puma, MAPF1, and Raeburn Collaborate on Circular Performance-Inspired Apparel Collection

Sportswear giant Puma has announced an exciting new collaboration with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team (MAPF1) and London-based creative studio Raeburn to launch a performance-inspired fashion collection.

Combining the expertise and distinctive qualities of all three partners, the collection draws inspiration from MAPF1’s high-performance wear. This innovative line reimagines the looks through upcycling and merges them with Puma’s extensive sporting knowledge.

The result is a series of “elevated fashion pieces” that employ recycled materials to redefine “modern luxury in sports fashion,” according to a press release.

The collection features three distinct tiers of products, each highlighting various aspects of the partnership.

The centerpiece of the collection is a hero masterpiece jacket, remade from an original race-worn Nomex driver suit of Lewis Hamilton. This unique item will be auctioned online at a later date following the British Grand Prix.

The second tier includes other pieces crafted from suits worn during the 2022 season by both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. These exclusive items will be offered via a raffle on Puma’s website, providing fans a rare opportunity to own a piece of racing history.

The final tier consists of a limited edition collection, featuring items made from deadstock Nomex unused pieces. These high-performance materials have been skillfully adapted into stylish streetwear apparel by Raeburn, showcasing the creative potential of upcycled fashion.

Chris Raeburn, Raeburn’s creative director and founder, expressed immense pride in the collaboration. He highlighted the innovative nature of the project, stating it was “a radical move on from anything [the brand has] ever worked on before.”

This collaboration underscores the potential of circular fashion and sustainable design in the sportswear industry. By utilizing recycled materials and upcycling high-performance racing suits, Puma, MAPF1, and Raeburn are setting a new standard for modern luxury in sports fashion.

The collection not only pays homage to the thrilling world of Formula One but also emphasizes the importance of sustainability in contemporary fashion. With its unique blend of performance, style, and environmental consciousness, this collaboration is poised to make a significant impact on both the fashion and sports industries.
