What will Princess Eugenie call her baby?

Princess Beatrice’s pregnancy announcement has sparked suggestions for the latest royal baby’s name already with the top choice including tributes to her husband’s side of the family.

According to the details, Princess Beatrice and her husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their first child together, they announced via Buckingham Palace announced this morning, with royal watchers already speculating on their choice for a name.

The Queen’s granddaughter, 32, who tied the knot with the Italian property developer in September 2020, are expecting the baby in autumn 2021.

Betting agency Ladbrokes released a list of the most likely names for the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild. Representative Alex Apati said: “The latest odds suggest Princess Beatrice and husband Edoardo will opt for a traditional name with a nod to the latter’s Italian roots. As things stand it’s Florence and Theodore leading the way in the betting.”

Sarah is leading as bookies’ favourite with Betfair putting it at 8/1 if the little one is a girl, while Ladbrokes have Florence at 4/1, perhaps a tribute to Edo’s Italian roots. However, if the new baby is a boy, Philip is the most likely choice, also at 8/1 as Beatrice may pay tribute to her grandfather who died earlier this year, aged 99.

The announcement was made on the Royal Family’s social media using a portrait from their 2020 wedding day.

The caption read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year. The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”
