Prince William Jokes About ‘One Pint Willy’ Nickname During MND Event

While attending an event to honor Motor Neurone Disease (MND) campaigners, Prince William humorously addressed a nickname given to him by former rugby player Mike Tindall, who is also his cousin-in-law.

At his first royal engagement of the year at Headingley Stadium in Leeds, Prince William celebrated the achievements of Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield in their fundraising efforts for MND. The duo was pleasantly surprised as William presented them with CBEs (Commanders of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in recognition of their hard work and dedication to the cause.

The mood lightened when Burrow, who hosts the ‘Seven: Rob Burrow’ podcast, playfully referred to Tindall’s revelations about William’s nickname. Laughing it off, Prince William recalled telling Tindall, “When you’re not going to mention your nicknames, don’t mention mine! It’s not fair.”

Tindall, known for his rugby achievements, had let slip on Burrow’s podcast that he teasingly called Prince William “One Pint Willy,” poking fun at his supposed low tolerance for alcohol. The nickname caught on and spread widely, causing both amusement and slight embarrassment for the Prince.

Displaying his good-natured and down-to-earth personality, Prince William shrugged off the nickname and even suggested Tindall might have a collection of humorous monikers for the royal family.

Beyond the lighthearted moments, William focused on the serious issue of MND, a cause that he holds dear. He commended Burrow and Sinfield for their exceptional leadership and impact, stating, “What you’ve achieved is truly remarkable. You’ve not only raised millions for research, but you’ve also united people and offered hope to those affected by this devastating disease.
