Prince Harry Reportedly Strengthening Connections with His UK Family
Prince Harry has reportedly deepened his relationship with Princess Diana’s side of the family, particularly with his uncle Earl Charles Spencer, as his rift with King Charles and Prince William continues.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News that Harry’s ties with the Spencers have grown stronger, partly due to their shared involvement in charitable causes. The closer connection became apparent during the 10-year anniversary celebration of the Invictus Games in May, which the Spencers attended to show their support.
“Harry is fostering contacts with the Spencers because they supported the Invictus service at St Paul’s, and we know that there’s contact there and closeness that there doesn’t seem to be with the Royal Family except with Eugenie in Portuguese,” Fitzwilliams said.
The expert highlighted how the strained relationship between Harry and the Royal Family contrasts with his rapport with the Spencers. Fitzwilliams pointed to a recent incident where King Charles reportedly prioritized meeting David Beckham over Harry during the latter’s brief visit to the UK.
“It didn’t make a whole deal of sense when they only met for half an hour the first time when he came over immediately,” Fitzwilliams remarked. “When the king meets David Beckham and not Harry, it speaks for itself. There is a big rift in the Royal Family, and there remains a big rift.”
The Spencers have shown consistent support for Harry’s initiatives, including the Invictus Games, which hold a special place in the Duke of Sussex’s charitable efforts. The renewed closeness with his mother’s family offers Harry a sense of connection amidst his ongoing struggles with the Royal Family.
