Former Good Morning Britain anchor Piers Morgan has revealed that he felt “let down” by his former co-host Susanna Reid following his dramatic departure from the show. Morgan, known for his outspoken views, left the ITV program abruptly in March 2021 after a heated debate regarding Meghan Markle, via the Express.
The 59-year-old broadcaster made headlines for his controversial remarks about the Duchess of Sussex, which led to his resignation after he refused to apologize. Reflecting on his exit, Piers expressed disappointment over the lack of support from his colleagues, especially in light of the backing Gary Lineker received from his Match of the Day colleagues following his temporary sidelining in 2023.
When a fan asked on Twitter, “Were you disappointed that none of your colleagues didn’t present the day after you left GMB?” Piers responded, “Would have been nice to see the same solidarity.” This response was seen as a subtle dig at Susanna Reid, with whom he had shared presenting duties for six years.
An insider told OK! magazine, “Piers’ tweet was a cheeky dig at Susanna.” They added that Piers believed his fellow presenters, including Susanna, should have shown more public support during his departure. “No one came out and backed him, only his family,” the source noted. “He felt let down.”
