Phillip Schofield’s Heartbreaking Tribute to His ‘Magnificent’ Mum

“Phillip Schofield’s Heartfelt Tribute to ‘Magnificent’ Mother Pat Following Her Passing: ‘We Held Her, Loved Her, Said Everything That Needed to Be Said'”

Phillip Schofield has shared his grief over the loss of his beloved mother, Pat, in an emotional Instagram post. Describing her as “magnificent,” the former This Morning presenter revealed his heartbreak following her passing.

“We held her, loved her, hugged her, and said everything that needed to be said,” Schofield wrote, alongside touching photos of himself and his mum. He reflected on their final days together, noting that Pat, reportedly aged 88, was “calm, peaceful, beautiful and dignified.” The presenter, 62, expressed his pride in being her son, adding: “I will forever be proud and privileged that she was my mum.”

Pat has now joined her late husband, Brian, who passed away in 2008. Schofield offered deep gratitude to the paramedics and the staff at Treliske [Royal Cornwall Hospital] A&E and Critical Care, calling them “my mum’s and our angels,” and credited their “love and care” for helping his family through this difficult time.

In his heartfelt tribute, Schofield concluded, “I love you mum, forever,” followed by a heartbreak emoji. He later shared a video of a plane flying overhead, fondly remembering how his mother had taken part in a daring wing walk, one of the oldest ever to do so: “God I loved her for wanting to do this.”

This tragic news comes shortly after Schofield’s recent appearance on Channel 5’s Cast Away, where he spent 10 days alone on a small island off the coast of Madagascar. It marked his first return to TV since his departure from ITV in May 2023, following his admission of an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a younger male colleague. At the time, Schofield confessed that the revelation had caused him to “lose everything” and had a “catastrophic effect” on his mental health.
