Prince Philip’s Unspoken Nickname for Meghan Markle Revealed by Royal Expert

The late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, is said to have had reservations about Meghan Markle, likening her to Wallis Simpson, another American who famously married into the Royal Family. A royal commentator has revealed that Philip assigned a sharp nickname to Meghan, reflective of his perceived similarities between her and Simpson, although he never addressed her with it directly, reported by “Yahoo“.

According to Ingrid Seward, a noted royal author, Prince Philip observed a significant resemblance between Meghan and the Duchess of Windsor, the American divorcee who became a royal following King Edward VIII’s abdication in 1936. Despite never using it in her presence, he referred to Meghan as the “Duchess of Windsor,” shortened informally to “DoW” among his close circles.

Seward shared her insights during an interview on GB News, noting that Philip was adept at understanding people and often looked for their positive attributes. However, he reportedly found it hard to overlook the parallels between Meghan and historical figures like Wallis Simpson, told by “Mirror“.

In her book, My Mother and I, Seward further explores Philip’s cautious stance towards Meghan, portraying him as one of the few royals who resisted being charmed by her. He saw her as potentially disruptive within the royal dynamics, a contrast to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who maintained hopeful expectations for Meghan’s integration into the royal family.
