Phil Spencer Reveals the Secret Behind His Long-Running TV Success

Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp have become household names, delighting viewers with their expert property advice on Location, Location, Location. Since the Channel 4 show first aired in 2000, the duo has helped countless homebuyers find their dream homes, and their on-screen chemistry has made them fan favourites, according to the Express.

The pair’s success has led to spin-off shows like Relocation, Relocation, and Love It Or List It, while they’ve also explored solo projects such as Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas and Phil’s Stately Homes. Reflecting on their long-running careers, Phil, 54, told The Guardian, “I feel like we’ve offered a parental helping hand, especially to confused first-time buyers. Over the years, what’s pleased me more than anything is being stopped in the street by people who tell me the advice was useful.”

Throughout their two-decade partnership, Phil and Kirstie have faced persistent romance rumours, which they’ve playfully addressed. Phil often refers to Kirstie as his “other wife,” while Kirstie once admitted, “I still know Phil better than I know [my partner] Ben because Phil and I have spent more time together.” However, both have long-term partners—Kirstie is with property developer Ben Anderson, and Phil is married to Fiona Spencer. Phil has also emphasized that their bond is strictly platonic, describing their relationship as “natural.”

While the duo is known for helping others find homes, their own properties are equally impressive. Phil sold his six-bedroom family home in London in 2015, making a £2.4 million profit. He now resides in a sprawling £3.3 million mansion in Hampshire, which features six en-suite bedrooms, a cinema, gym, tennis court, and enough land for his family’s six chickens and two ponies. Speaking to The Mirror, Phil shared, “I’ve loved living in SW London for the last 25 years, but I have moved to Hampshire for a change of life.”

Meanwhile, Kirstie has chosen to remain in London with her husband Ben, and their two sons, Bay and Oscar. They live in Notting Hill, one of the city’s wealthiest areas, where their home is worth over £2 million. The family also owns a holiday home in Devon, which they began renting out in 2022. The luxurious property can sleep up to 14 guests and is just minutes from one of Devon’s most beautiful beaches. According to Classic Cottages, the property is perfect for large groups seeking a seaside retreat.

With an estimated net worth of £20 million, Phil and Kirstie continue to be icons in the property world, both on-screen and off.
