Lucy Letby, the nurse known for her involvement in the tragic deaths of multiple infants, has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Letby received a total of 14 whole-life terms for her crimes, ensuring she will spend the rest of her life in prison.

In a deeply emotional courtroom, the bereaved parents of the infants she murdered confronted Letby, who refused to attend court. One mother, whose newborn had fallen victim to Letby’s actions, expressed her anger and sorrow, declaring that Letby had killed the babies intentionally.

Another grieving mother condemned Letby’s absence in court as “one final act of wickedness from a coward.” The judge ordered that the poignant victim impact statements be provided to Letby for her to read in prison.

Letby’s heinous crimes, which occurred between June 2015 and June 2016 at the Countess of Chester Hospital, involved the murder of seven babies and the attempted murder of six others. Letby targeted premature babies and those with medical issues. Her actions were characterized as “cruel, calculated, and cynical” by the judge.

Letby maintained her innocence throughout the trial, but the evidence against her was overwhelming. She had meticulously recorded information on her victims, keeping detailed records, told BBC.
