Ben Shephard didn’t waste any time shutting down his co-star Nick Ferrari after the 66-year-old radio legend made a candid on-air revelation about his upcoming wedding night. Nick, who announced his engagement to Clare Patterson at the start of 2023, was chatting with Ben and Cat Deeley on This Morning when the conversation took an unexpected turn.

They were discussing a recent study that suggested married men are more likely to gain weight compared to women, a point that Nick could personally relate to, given his recent weight loss efforts in preparation for his wedding, reported the Manchester Evening News.

Cat started the conversation by joking, “You’ve been there in the past Nick and you’ve got another one coming, so you’ve got hindsight and future.” Nick then surprised everyone with a personal tidbit about his weight loss journey. “None of you have said well done, I have actually shed quite a lot of weight so the idea that I’ll now put it all back on again is quite disheartening,” he said, before adding with a chuckle, “I’ve shed some weight so that on the wedding night… the wedding night, sorry.”

The studio burst into laughter and gasps as Nick quickly realised his slip of the tongue. With a mischievous grin, he added, “Thank god this isn’t going out live,” before attempting to clarify, “On the wedding day, I can dance to ‘Single Ladies’.” Nick, clearly embarrassed, laughed it off, admitting, “Oh that went so badly wrong.”

The conversation awkwardly circled back to the wedding night, prompting Ben to jump in and put an end to it. “Enough about Nick’s wedding night,” he said, clearly eager to move on from the mishap.
