Mum of Four Sheds Half Her Body Weight After Marriage Breakdown, Credits Ghost Hunting and New Romance

Linzi Steer, a mum-of-four from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, has shared her remarkable weight loss journey after losing nearly half her body weight following the end of her 10-year marriage. Linzi, 55, says that ghost hunting and a new, active love life were key to her transformation.

After her marriage began to deteriorate, Linzi turned to comfort eating, causing her weight to balloon to a size 16. The turning point came in August 2013 when she barely recognized herself in the mirror, describing her reflection as “haggard.” Determined to make a change, Linzi overhauled her eating habits and increased her physical activity, including ghost hunting—an interest she shares on her paranormal page, Linzi’s Para Quest, told The Mirror.

As the pounds began to drop, Linzi’s confidence grew, and she started dating a man she met on TikTok. Now, she credits her slimmed-down size 8 figure, weighing 8st 1lb, to healthy eating, ghost hunting, and her blossoming new romance. “I started to eat more whole foods instead of convenience foods and started to feel so much better,” she explained. “Now I’m in a new relationship… obviously, there’s a lot of exercise.”

Linzi reflected on her marriage and weight gain, saying, “I was really unhappy in my life and the state of my marriage, so I comfort ate.” After the breakup, she made a conscious effort to focus on her health. “I can also credit my weight loss to such an active job chasing ghosts… I go all over the place and walk a hell of a lot.”

Linzi’s transformation didn’t involve any fad diets. “I don’t do any stupid, crazy diets. I eat healthily, I love fruit and veg, and I’m constantly drinking water,” she explained. Her meals now consist of fruits, chicken, vegetables, and the occasional glass of wine. “I feel empowered and sexy, I’ve got my confidence back,” Linzi said.

Her newfound confidence also led to a whirlwind romance. After meeting a man from Albania on TikTok, Linzi decided to visit him in June, extending her trip by five days due to their instant connection. Describing their relationship as a “Mills & Boon romance,” she said, “I feel like I’ve found my soulmate even in this short space of time.”

Living her best life at 55, Linzi is now planning to return to Albania for three months and hasn’t ruled out the possibility of moving there permanently. “It’s never too late,” she added.
